Lemonade Stand

Last week the students played a Lemonade Stand game on the ipads which went along with our Economics Unit. They really enjoyed being able to create their own Lemonade business and learn all about the different aspects that affect the business.

First grade buddies

We love meeting with our first grade buddies! This last time we met, we focused on different ways to represent the number 29. It was great seeing the students work together to see how many different ways they could come up with!

Dr. Seuss Week!

Cat in the hat came for a during Dr.Seuss week. The students loved listening to Dr.Seuss stories throughout the week!

Picture Day Tomorrow!

Just a reminder, tomorrow is Spring Picture Day! Your child should have a Picture Day informational sheet in their red Monday folder. If you would like to order a Spring Picture, please make sure to order online by clicking the following link: here or you send the order form with your child to school tomorrow!

Math Games

Today, in class, we did a Math game warm-up that the students loved! I let the students know I would put the link up incase they wanted to play it at home to practice their multiplication Math facts. There are many great games on this website to practice their mulitplication facts, but the one we played in class today is called "Skater Math".

Reminders

Just a few reminders for the week...

If you purchased a House t-shirt, we encourage your child to wear it tomorrow for the House lunch. Purchasing a t-shirt was not mandatory, it was just for fun! Students will still be able to participate in the House lunch even if they did not purchase a House t-shirt.

If your child made 100% club, we will be having the party on Thursday, so no need to pack/purchase a lunch.

Our 2nd quarter House winners were Mwotaji! They will be celebrating with a party on Thursday after lunch.

Thursday is also a half day.

Welcome back!

We had a great first week back! We loved hearing all about everyone's break, but we're so glad to have everyone back in the classroom and learning again.

This past week we learned about remainders in Math, the Declaration of Independence in Social Studies, all about non-fiction text features in Reading, and we are preparing for a research project on animals in Writing.

Can you believe were already half way done with the school year!? We are off to a great start with Quarter 3, but we wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder that all students have a fresh start for 100% club!

Don't forget to keep encouraging your child to practice their multiplication. We have noticed that 6,7,8, and 9's have been the most challenging, but please encourage your child to stick with it!
